Premiere Will Fill in the Gaps Coming to Premiere Pro is another feature first teased at MAX, Object Addition and Removal. It will let you select and track objects, either removing them, replacing them or enhancing them. Imagine adding a bowl of flowers to a dull set or changing the color of an actor’s wardrobe. And of course, it’s smart enough to track the object as the camera or subject moves. If you’ve never run into a situation where a clip is just a few frames too short to make the transition you need work, you probably haven’t been an editor for very long. It’s a major annoyance. A new AI trick will be coming to Premiere Pro that will take care of that. It will use GenAI to extend a shot just enough to give you that extra beat or two you need to make the shot work. Premiere Pro will also be able to generate reference images that can be used for storyboarding or just sharing ideas. They will be good enough to mix in with your live-action B-roll. GenAI will be helping out on the audio side as well. It will be able to tag tracks with a category, dialog, music, sound effects, or ambience for Essential Sounds, smarter and more useful waveforms in the timeline and badges to indicate which clips have effects to quickly let you change or add new ones right from the timeline. Both Frame.io users and Adobe’s video and photo users have a few more reasons to celebrate the coming of spring. Though some of Lightroom and Premiere Pro’s new features are labeled as being experimental, Adobe has enough confidence with them to place them in the production versions of the software. They have the potential to become real power tools in your workflow. For more information, visit: adobe.com.
