I But how do you know what major is right for you? How do you choose the right program, and the right school? ADVERTISING Have a great slogan in mind? Are you creative but also a strategic thinker? Then advertising might just be the career for you. In the year 2010, there were 271,840 advertising professionals working in the United States. Their median salary was $69,118 per year; that is 19 percent higher than all professionals in the nation. Between 2006 and 2010, the number of advertising professionals has shrunk by 5 percent. In addition, salaries from 2006 to 2010 increased by 12 percent. Advertising is a career that is constantly changing, and more schools nationwide are offering advertising degrees. In 2006, 9,995 students graduated from advertising degree programs. In 2010, 10,932 graduated from advertising schools. Currently, there are 330 advertising programs offered nationwide. GAME DESIGN Game Design is a career than between 2006 and 2010 shrunk by 16 percent. Fewer and fewer students are majoring in this field; however, the median salary is higher than the average salary for all professions. In 2010, the median salary for game design professionals was $71,380. Game design professionals' salaries saw 9 percent growth from the year 2006 to the year 2010. Although this is a profitable profession, the number of schools offering game design programs has decreased. There were 272 game design schools across the country in 2006. And there were 420 schools in 2010. Currently there are 35 design programs offered nationwide. n today's world there are no limits for a creative mind. An artist is no longer only defined as a painter or sculptor, with the development of technology, artists have evolved as well. Well DESIGN Every day there are more and more careers for design professionals. However, the number of design professionals has shrunk by 8 percent. Currently, the decline is faster than the growth for all careers. Over the next seven years, this trend is expected to slow. Salaries are also increasing. There was 9 percent growth from 2006 to 2010. Meanwhile the median salary is $51,074, and the 10th WEB DESIGN In comparison to other professions, web design is a growing industry, and therefore a growing profession. There were 192,240 web design professionals working in the United States in 2010. The number of web design professionals grew by 1 percent between 2006 and 2010. This growth in the number of students graduating from web design courses is greater than the 12 percent growth nationally for students graduating from institutions of higher learning in general. However, the median salary professional in 2010 was $43,500, this means, it was 29 percent less than the national median salary for all professions. Nevertheless, there was a 9 percent growth in salaries from 2006 to 2010. FASHION DESIGN Do you keep up with the latest fashion trends? Then join one of the 15,060 fashion design professionals working in the United States in 2010. Over the course of the past four years, this number has shrunk by 4 percent. However, fashion design professionals in the United States earned a median salary of $64,530 per year in 2010. Between the years 2006 and 2010, salaries for fashion design professionals grew by 3 percent.In addition, in 2010, 6,976 students graduated from fashion design schools. While student graduation numbers are up, the number of schools offering fashion design programs has decreased. Currently there are 268. percentile of professionals is earning $28,118.
