The Loving Touch of Das Keyboard's MacTigr By Ric Getter Serious gamers and fast touch typists have at least one thing in common: a certain lack of fondness for Apple keyboards. Up until the introduction of the iMac in 1998, Apple had among the best, with ALPS switches and comfortably contoured keycaps. If you’re not into chicklet keys, the best that can be said about the current keyboards is that they no longer use butterfly switches. All Apple laptop and desktop keyboards feel pretty much the same these days, whether you like them or not. If you’re a Mac user and take your gaming and keyboarding skills seriously, or just love the feel of a solid keyboard under your fingers, Das Keyboard has come to the rescue with a premium keyboard that will offer the best experience in both worlds. The MacTigr was just uncaged for Mac users. This is more than one of their other great designs with Command and Option keys–it’s is a totally new design. All Keyboard The most unique aspect of the MacTigr is that it is literally all-keyboard. There’s a bit of open space above and around the cursor keys, but where the keys stop, the keyboard stops. The rest of the space is your desk’s. In that sense it is like Apple’s current Magic Keyboard design but unlike most the third-party mechanical switch models. You’ll also quickly notice that the Cherry MX Red switch mechanisms under the solid PBT keycaps are exposed. This gives the MacTigr something of a stripped-down hotrod look.
