HyperDeck Shuttle HD - Low profile, high in value
By Ric Getter
Blackmagic’s designers were obviously watching how many of their live production customers did their work and got the point. They saw laptops and low-profile ATEM Mini switchers scattered across tabletops, with their controls conveniently lying flat for the operator sitting at the table. This was no place for devices designed for rack mounts, even those that were slender and half-width.
Their solution? An entirely new approach to the HyperDeck. The result? The HyperDeck Shuttle HD, a box that provides a lot of control over record and playback that takes up very little space. With a design dominated by a large jog/shuttle knob, to this video gray-hair, it looks a bit like half of an early edit controller, or more accurately, like the venerable Buff Controller still found in many broadcast control rooms.
