118 MacDirectory CLOSER LOOK FONTAGENT PRO FROM INSIDER SOFTWARE Looking for cutting-edge font management, diagnostics and/or repair? FontAgent Pro software from Insider Software may just be what you need. Users need not know anything about fonts before using this software as it does run a complete set of tests on any new fonts. In addition, FontAgentPro's unique concept search allows users to merely type in a concept -- such as a current project -- and FontAgentPro will search the user's hard drive and the Internet simultaneously to find fonts that suitably match the concept. "For example, if you are working on designing Halloween invitations and you need a font that is "frightening looking," just type in a concept such as "scary" and you get a list of local fonts as well as Internet fonts -- together with information about the font. FontAgent Pro then gives you the option of purchasing the font with a couple of clicks," explained Bob Leeds, vice president of sales and marketing at Insider Software. The software essentially eliminates menu clutter. As a direct result, users will not have hundreds or thousands of fonts in their font menus – which in turn permits computers to be more stable and run faster. Further, FontAgent Pro's unique FontPlayer allows you to play your fonts like a video – just click on the fonts you like, and it will create a set that you can use to design your projects. A number of companies have found FontAgent Pro to be extremely helpful. "One company called the Meredith Corporation produces 400 magazines alone each month using FontAgent Pro. Herbalife also uses the software to prepare their marketing materials in over an astounding 75 languages," Leeds said. Users can expect even more great things from FontAgent Pro in the future as the company plans to expand its use. The company recently released the public beta of the Windows version of FontAgent Pro, and there is a FontAgent Pro Server for the enterprise customer – that automatically synchronizes fonts on each of the workstations according to specific parameters. There is even a workgroup edition for smaller companies that need to share fonts on different machine, according to Leeds. WORDS BY LARISA REDINS
