DEPARTMENT APPLE BITES NEWS TIM COOK TO DONATE HIS $785 BILLION FORTUNE TO CHARITY Apple's Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is planning to give away all his fortune to charity, reports Fortune Magazine. Joining the club of the wealthiest people who are donating generously for charity, Cook is said to donate his estimated $785 million wealth to charity albeit after paying for his 10-year-old nephew's college education, according to the magazine. "You want to be the pebble in the pond that creates the ripples for change," the 54-year-old told Fortune. Fortune assessed Cook's net worth, based on his holdings of Apple stock, at about $120 million. He also holds restricted stock worth $665 million if it were to be fully vested. Billionaire financier Warren Buffett has encouraged the affluent people to give away at least half their worth in their lifetimes through the 'Giving Pledge,' whose website lists such luminaries as Microsoft Corp's Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, and Oracle Corp's Larry Ellison. Cook, who is not listed on the website, is known as an extremely private person who avoids the limelight on philanthropy. 5 FASHION ADVICE, APPLE'S NEW SALES STRATEGY FOR APPLE WATCH As you step into the Apple store to get your Apple Watch, do not be surprised if you get few suggestions on fashion and styling from the company's workers. Reports suggest that Apple is offering training to store employees to offer style suggestions to Apple Watch buyers. According to 9to5MAc, the employees will undergo changes starting next month and should go in line with the duties of sales personnel in luxury stores like Rolex. The Apple employees will be taught about new sales techniques over the next two weeks. Under the program, the workforce will learn how to pair straps with the watch and offer assistance with gifts and iPhone upgrades. The training session does not provide the workers with the script; however, they are training their staff on how to strike up conversations with customers. For instance, the company has asked its staff to make comments such as, "You seem to have a fun style. I think the pink Sport band would match your style perfectly." Moreover, employees have been trained to explain how the customers should select their Apple Watch and present choices above the person's price range in case there is a chance to up-sell. 6
