When you’re about to do something radical, there’s nothing like the peace of mind like having a bootable clone of your system drive. My go-to app for this has always been SuperDuper! from Shirt Pocket (shirtpocket.com). In overall popularity, it runs in second place, but I prefer its solid, simple design and the fact that it’s less intrusive, system-wise. Through its long history, Apple has made huge changes to its file system, but SuperDuper!’s clean, clear interface has remained virtually the same even though what’s under the hood has successfully jumped through all the hoops its needed to and kept up.
