Editor, Knut Hake, also joined the Summit to share some insight to his work on the latest Netflix film, Blood Red Sky. Edited solely on Final Cut Pro along with the Postlab collaboration tools — Hake was able to share insight to his editing process while working completely remotely on this project. Hake also shared his inspirations, and of course, his vast background in editing for different genres such as comedies, television, and horror. The Final Cut Pro Summit not only provided a space for education, but also challenged our attendees creatively. Jeff Greenberg proposed a film festival competition. The ask? Create a 15-second film shot and filmed on mobile. “Basically we wanted to give them a creative exercise that they could do,” said Jeff Greenberg. “Think of it more as a writer's prompt. It's meant to practice the art, not perfect it. It's about trying an iteration.” There were over 30 submissions for this year’s film festival which boasted a prize of 2 iPads and 2 MotionVFX plug-ins, mLUT Cine and mLUT Movie II.
