How have you transformed your love for design into a successful career?
I’m a passionate vector illustrator at heart and by trade, and I’ve been at it for over 15 years. I’ve been drawing since I was just a kid with no formal education or training to develop my skills. Instead, I self-learned creative techniques, design programs, and how to market myself as an artist to make a living doing what I love.
Today, I collaborate with creative agencies on vector projects and I secure freelance creative jobs via my Fiverr account. While I also sell my artwork on microstock sites like Shutterstock and print-on-demand (POD) marketplaces such as Teepublic, a large chunk of my business comes through referrals from happy clients, and through active self-promotion on social media. I believe my talent is first and foremost what makes me successful, however maintaining my presence on marketplaces and social media plays a big role in getting my art noticed by a wider audience.
