Blackmagic’s new Ursa Mini Pro Ready for 12K? By Ric Getter Just as we were settling into 4K in our homes and workflows, Blackmagic Designs dropped us into a whole new realm of resolution this summer with the release of the new URSA Mini Pro 12K, a very high end camera that still manages to remain within reach of a lot of independent producers’ budgets. And as is the case with nearly all of Blackmagic’s hardware products, that affordability comes as the result of some significant innovations rather than from a lack of them. On the outside the URSA 12K bears a considerable resemblance to its sibling 4.6K G2 and is very much accessory-compatible. This will be greatly appreciated by shops and DPs who’ll want to jump between the two. However, the internals are a very different story.
