Earlier this year at CES, Motorola launched the Tech3. These innovative headphones are no ordinary headphones. They can be used three different ways. They are true wireless or tethered wireless headphones when you want them, and wired headphones when you need them the most. Switching between the three forms is simple. There is a magnetic connector at the bottom of each earpiece that connects to the end of the custom-designed braided cable. Each end is marked with an R or an L, so you know which one goes on which headphone. With a couple snaps, go from true wireless earbuds, to tethered buds, to wired headphones. It’s quick and painless. Being able to switch between the three is a great feature—especially if your true wireless headphones are running low on battery, and you would like to keep listening to a podcast on your phone. Everything you need is in the charging case. The cables wrap around it—you won’t even be able to tell they are there. When you are ready to switch from true wireless to a sport loop or wired headphones, simply unwrap the cables and connect the buds to it. The sport loop comes in vert handy for working out and going on runs—after all the Tech3 are water/sweat resistant. Simply use the sport loop, keep the Bluetooth connection, and start running. Having them tethered will ensure they don’t fall to the ground during your workout. My ears are small, so sometimes true wireless buds will just pop out, I keep mine tethered all the time. Keep in mind, that the sport loop won’t power your buds—this is still a Bluetooth connection— the only way the buds can be used 24/7 without a charge is if you use the cable with the audio 3.5mm connector, which goes straight into your phone, laptop, or in-flight entertainment system. This feature will come in very handy next time you step on a plane (I know, it’s been a while for me too, but I’m hoping that day will be here soon). With three different form factors, these headphones truly have unmatched flexibility. The Tech3 are very comfortable and delivery high quality audio. If you’re not sure what you want, and you are looking for maximum flexibility the Tech3 by Motorola is the smart choice.
