Transform your Home Office with Fluidstance The Plane Cloud, the Fillup, and the Slope By Thomas Bender “Home Office” is a loaded term—too much home and it can be unproductive and unprofessional, but too much office and its cold and uncomfortable. Fluidstance makes productivity products to give your home a little more office, and your office a little more home. The company has built their reputation atop (pun intended) their renown balance boards for standing desks, but has applied the same innovative mindset to other desk essentials like the Fillup personal water station and the Slope personal white board. All the products feature thoughtful design combined with a modern 2020 aesthetic to keep your mind and creativity flowing. The Original balance board—the catalyst for Fluidstance’s success—is a serious piece of furniture with a serious price tag to match. Luckily, they’ve created additional models like the Plane Cloud that embody the same science and influences as it’s slightly more sophisticated brother. The Plane Cloud balance board is made from recycled plastic and comes adorned with a cushioned, foam top that I actually prefer to an all wood upper finish (I often work in my socks). This is definitely more of a playful board, with a slate blue underbelly, neon green floor cushions on the corner, and slightly confettied top surface. Those neon green pads protect your floors and silence any would-be-tapping sounds as you rock around on your board. The Plane Cloud balance board has a smaller footprint than I expected, but still offers the full range of motion that I want. I’ve used other balance boards at standing desks, and was very taken with Fluidstance’s smooth articulation and control. This is what sets it apart from other boards you might find at big box stores or if you try gym equipment under your desk. It’s easy to control, and only moves when you want it to move—it’s not about constantly twitching to develop your core, but providing a smooth, fluid experience while you stand at your desk. If you find yourself deeply focused and want to stand still, it’s incredibly easy to do so without any struggle.
