powerful speaker components. Fitting with the rest of the design philosophy, the headband has three unlabeled buttons used for controls, including some ambiguous powering and pairing button presses. The USB- C charged batter y will get about 16 hours of playback, which is great considering the 24 -bit support and relatively minimal increase in weight when compared to its wired counterparts. Of course, since AIAIAI always has optimal functionality in mind, the headphones can still be used with a wired cable. It's worth mentioning that the wired input can be used with either the left or right speaker, and the cable itself features a twist-to-lock design that ensures your cable doesn't come loose or get yanked out in the middle of a DJ set. The S05 speaker units use a biocellulose diaphragm normally found in even more expensive headphones or loudspeakers, and is known for its stiffness, lightness, and strength. It's like the carbon fiber of speaker diaphragms. The result is a crisp, clear, level sound profile that truly sounds amazing. They aren't punchy or bassy, and sound great thanks to the H05 headband, or even better hooked up to an amp! Between those 40mm drivers and your head, I strongly suggest the E08 over-ear pads. These bad boys consist of dense memory foam wrapped with super comfortable Alcantara fabric. They are thick and conform to your head, resulting in amazing comfort. They also sort of embody the TMA-2's for me. The ear pads don't look all that special or fancy—I might even say they look a little frumpy— but they feel amazing and are super soft and form fitting. They excel at what they are supposed to do, just like the rest of the components! Lastly, even with the TMA-2 HD Wireless, it's worth picking up one of AIAIAI's great cables. They are some of the most professional feeling cables that I've had the pleasure of handling, and the locking mechanism is a unique touch. The excellent Triad cable is one of the best coated cables you can get, but don't overlook options for braided cables, lightning port cables, cables with built-in microphones, 6m coiled cables, etc. When I first got my hands on the TMA-2 HD Wireless modular headphones from AIAIAI, I was mostly expecting an interesting build-it-yourself experience. I got that—you actually have to snap together the components yourself—but I also got something I wasn't necessarily expecting. The components of the TMA-2's truly create a great pair of headphones with a wonderful sound signature and a lightweight, ultra-comfortable listening experience, seamlessly delivered in both wireless and wired form factors. On top of those very necessary aspects, AIAIAI's industry reputation, 3-year warranty, and the benefits of modularity (replacements, expansion, upgrades, etc) just add to this overall package, and make for an easy recommendation.
