CLOSER LOOK Because the Wi-Drive is Flash-based, you don't have to worry about it being damaged from crashed storage platters. Best of all, faster read speeds mean it's even possible to share with up to three different iDevices simultaneously via a WiFi connection without putting stress on the drive. You don't have to have a wireless network to use it either, because unlike most network-attached storage devices, this one creates its own secure network. If you need to stay connected to your existing network, however, it will also securely connect to that as well. "Wi-Drive allows Apple device owners to wirelessly manage document and media files, and choose to share them with others, while on the go for work or pleasure," said Andrew Ewing, Flash memory business manager of Kingston. The Wi-Drive features a MiniUSB port that allows you to upload files to it quickly from a PC or Mac without the need for extra drivers, specialized software, or any type of bloatware. Simply drag and drop and your Wi-Drive will make the files available wirelessly, all the while charging itself to go mobile for up to four continuous hours of use. Organizing the drive is easy, and you can even organize your files on the Wi-Drive into easy-to-understand folder hierarchies to make finding your files quick and easy. "Wi-Drive allows Apple device owners to wirelessly manage document and media files, and choose to share them with others, while on the go for work or pleasure," said Andrew Ewing, Flash memory business manager of Kingston. "This unique functionality, combined with the durability of a Flash-based device, will satisfy both casual users and the most discerning technophiles." The Wi-Drive is available in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities for an estimated MSRP of $129.99 and $174.99, respectively. Once you get your Wi-Drive, simply download the universal app for your particular device, connect quickly to your Wi-Drive via 802.11g/n wireless, and start browsing the file system and using whatever supported files you've put on the drive. It is that easy, and you'll be happy when your storage woe can finally become a storage "whoa." Get details and watch videos at or . Wi-Drive Details The Wi-Drive offers Apple iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone users access over the Wi-Fi 801.11g/n protocol to 16 or 32 GB of additional space over a secure wireless network. Load it up from your desktop by simply dragging and dropping media files over a high speed mini USB connection, while simultaneously charging the device. Content can be organized by user or any other custom organization, not limiting organization to iTunes' categorizations, no syncing required. Wi-Drive allows DRM-free media to be played simultaneously across the connected devices. Supported formats include a whole gamut of options. For audio files, you can play AAC, MP3, and WAV formats. Playable video files include H.264, m4v, mp4, mov, Motion JPEG (M-PEG), and AVI. You can view static images of types JPG, BMP, and TIFF and documents in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, or Apple iWork formats (pdf, doc, docx, key, numbers, pages, ppt, pptx, txt, rtf, xls). Setup After installing a free application from Apple's app store on your device, the Wi-Drive operates over a secure wireless network where Internet and 3G connectivity is not required. The drive can also connect you to an available Wi-Fi hotspot while you stay connected to your local data on the Wi-Drive. Mobile Based on Flash technology, Wi-Drive is rugged, with no moving parts to keep your personal media in optimum shape. As a companion to your Apple mobile device, just throw it in your bag, car or briefcase without worry of failure. No power cord is required to use the Wi-Drive. The lithium ion battery retains a charge for up to 4 hours and can be recharged via an electrical outlet or straight from a USB port. The device is pocket-sized so accessing your personal media stash is easy while off the beaten track or while on a plane or car; just don't do it while driving. 80 MacDirectory MacDirectory
