GRID Legends for Mac was first revealed back in June 2022 during Apple’s WWDC conference. Needless to say, it was massive news for the entire Mac community as it will be the first racing game from Codemasters to come to macOS in years. The last one was DiRT 4, and that was in 2017! Also, the reveal came on stage at WWDC. This shows how important gaming has become to Apple. But that initial announcement was months ago. What else have we learned from the game coming to Mac? GRID Legends Mac release date While Resident Evil Village and No Man’s Sky are already out, Feral Interactive left us in dark for months with no news nor release dates share in more than a year. That changed today with the reveal of GRID Legend’s Mac official release date: December 12, 2023: Feral Interactive have announced that GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition is coming to macOS on December 12th, available exclusively from the Mac App Store. The release of GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition marks a triumphant return for Codemasters’ premium racing franchise to macOS, which arrives as an all-in-one package with all its DLC. Mac System Requirements At this stage, nothing official is known about the Mac system requirements for GRID Legends. We did learn that, as with every other Codemasters game coming to macOS, it will be ported by Feral Interactive. And given the excellent job they have done with F1 2017 and DIRT 4, you can expect a thoroughly optimized and smooth macOS version. From the available press releases, only Macs with Apple Silicon will be supported, including all M1 and M2 machines, whereas Intel-based Macs will not be supported. This was already the case for Total War: Warhammer 3, another Feral Interactive port. Mac App Store As confirmed by Feral Interactive on Twitter, the game will only be available on the Mac App Store (just like Resident Evil Village) and will include all DLC already available for the game: GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition will be released on Tuesday, December 12th, priced at $39.99 / £34.99 / €39,99. Why is it a big deal? You may be wondering why there was as much hype around this particular why. There are mainly two reasons why. First, GRID Legends was revealed alongside Resident Evil Village and No Man’s Sky. Those are two excellent games that have been critically acclaimed by critics and gamers alike. Many consider Village the best Resident Evil to date, and No Man’s Sky remains the best comeback story in gaming history. Announcing three AAA games at once is the most high-profile gaming announced for Mac in over a decade. Second, convincing such high-profile developers to port their games to macOS and reveal the news during Apple’s WWDC conference means Apple can truly take Mac gaming to the next level if they decide to make it a priority. These partnerships could also show other developers how capable Macs have become in terms of graphics performance thanks to Apple Silicon. What’s next Stay tuned as we’ll inform you as soon as we know more about the Mac version of the game, including details on what will be included in the Mac release of the game, and more.
