Command and Control Often, the price one pays for having a device as versatile as the 3S is a complex and sometimes confusing setup application. Logi Options+, the included configuration utility, is centered on an image of the MX showing all the buttons and wheels. Clicking on a control label lets you assign a function, which can either be global or application specific. With all the things it can do, it is remarkably easy to customize the 3S and add application-specific control assignments. Nearly all of that can be done by pointing and clicking on the image. There is a list of close to 40 different actions that can be assigned to buttons, everything from App Exposé to Smart Zoom. Within these, you can select keyboard shortcuts, other key combinations and gestures. This is where app-specific settings really come in handy. It’s natural as we develop workflows, to lean heavily on certain commands. Keyboard shortcuts are great, but having them literally at your fingertips is even better. Going With the Flow Up to this point, we consider the MX Master the best Mac mouse we’ve worked with over many years of pointing and clicking. But Logitech was far from done in their innovative genius.
