Including the newly-added SuperSource picture-in-picture feature, you have up to 5 DVE channels to play with. Another nice addition is s very capable audio mixer panel built into the console with a very obvious Fairlight pedigree. This is a far better use of panel-space than on the previous generations of all-in-one ATEM Studios. For video switching, this model has all the comfort of a dedicated control surface, with lighted source and transition buttons, with software-managed labeling for all the source buttons. One thing we greatly appreciate is that the HD8 now makes it much easier to do board-level replacements if something fails. This is true for both the electronics and the connector boards. The HD8 retails for $2,995. One step up is the HD8 ISO ($3,995). Like its ISO predecessors, it will record all sources as separate files plus a master (as switched) file, delivering them with a Resolve-ready project file and packaged in a way that can be used with any NLE. You can record Ultra HD in the cameras, edit with proxies, and then easily relink the files for finishing in post. As an introductory offer, Blackmagic Design will include 2TB of built-in storage fast enough to record all the streams. Larger capacity internal storage is available or you can use an external drive. Both models of the HD8 are shipping now.
