Quibbles: Dell has had slightly higher resolution on high end laptops -- 3840 x 2160 -- for over a decade now. 3840x2160 is _the_ standard for 4K today. So why did Apple deliberately flout compatibility with this industry standard? How does that slight mismatch affect video editors? There's still no touch screen. Dell and some others have had 4K_touch screens for over a decade. Apple validly argues that touch would not work optimally with the existing Mac interface. But exactly the same thing is true about Windows. Yet Windows users happily chug along using touch for many tasks and the trackpad or other pointer for others, interchanging as desired. It all works fluidly. Going from a Windows touch screen to a Macbook without touch seems like stepping back in time -- even though the Mac is decisively the better machine. Because of the high resolution, menus are now too small in relation to the screen. Windows has been able to resize such elements for well over a decade. Apple has not. It has got some workarounds, but they are clumsy. The painful truth is, the Apple interface does not work well on a 254 dpi 16-inch screen. Yet we have no indication that fixing this is on Apple's radar. Of course it must be. We'll all be happier when it's done.
