Color Consciousness Adobe chose May 21, Global Accessibility Day, to release an important update to one of its most useful products for artists and designers, Adobe Color. As our world becomes more dependent on graphics and visuals (thanks, in no small part to the powerful tools Adobe places in creators' hands), the 3-5% of the population afflicted with various forms of color vision deficiencies, commonly known as color blindness, can confront unexpected challenges with our work. Certain shades of different colors are indistinguishable—if they're adjacent, the content blends into a solid mass. Fortunately, medical science has the most common types clearly defined. With the latest release, Color can screen and flag the combinations that can cause problems in color perception and let you view how they will be seen (or not) by affected viewers and will guide you to an accessible solution. Learning Community One of the most important reasons to bring communities together, online or other wise, is for learning and sometimes the tips, tricks and techniques we can learn from each other can be as valuable as training from the masters. Adobe's online Behance community (behance.net) has grown from a source of inspiration and showcase of one's work to a place to gain and share knowledge. The new Discover tab where to find out what others are doing and how they do it. You can explore by categories like photography and graphics, or dive into specific applications. You get access to live learning sessions ( Adobe Live), daily creative challenges, and a huge and growing library of recordings of previous webcasts. There are also recordings of some of the best sessions from Adobe MA X conferences of years' past . Discover features videos from folks who are not only top creative professionals, but first-rate teachers, as well. A s you would imagine, many of the classes are hos ted by the pros at Adobe who not only know the tools, they helped create them. Beyond Behance, the Creative Cloud Desk top app has been evolving to provide more training and education. It offers direct, single - click access to a widening variety of resources, including Behance, tutorials, and community support forums. When it comes to sharing your skills, even Lightroom has gotten into the act with a new feature (in beta) that allows you to record your edits as a way to show others (or remind yourself ) how you obtained the look or effect you achieved.
