While the colorways will grab your attention, the overall design is classic and simpleā€”no racing dials or stopwatches here. Bespoke oversized numerals mark the hours, with dashes for each minute, a classic date counter, and easy to read hands. Both the hands and numbers are Super-LumiNova, meaning the glow in the dark without having that greenish- yellow color and texture that you might find on cheaper watches or star stickers. No matter which style appeals to you the most, you'll get quality US-based craftsmanship and Argonite 705 movement assembled from Swiss and other imported parts. This casual line features a silicone strap, and while it may not shout luxury to unbeknownst onlookers, I often prefer the feel to a thick slab of rigid leather wrapped around my wrist. Just because they are silicone does not make them cheap, they are thick, sturdy straps with good hardware and quick-release mechanics for changing the strap. The quick-change straps can sometimes seem superfluous, but with a watch this nice it can be worth investing in an additional strap or two to really extend the versatility and longevity. The Detrola is easy to keep on your wrist day after day thanks to that comfortable strap and lightweight materials. The line foregoes the heavy glass sapphire of Shinola watches like the Runwell line, instead opting for a double domed K1 crystal face cover. And while a stainless- steel core adds durability, its color is derived from TR90 Resin. Paired with the slightly smaller 43mm size (it's still a sizeable watch) and the Detrola is ideal for both women and men, with color options to match anyone's style. Whether shopping for yourself or somebody else, the Detrola line has something for everyone. Backed by the Shinola brand and American engineering, it's a safe bet for a watch that will go the distance. For more information, visit: www.shinola.com/detrola/all/detrola-watch-43mm-61963.html
