story. I was looking for proper inking brushes in Photoshop at that time, but couldn't find any I liked. When I tried Manga Studio, I instantly fell in love with the inking tools at that time. The coloring tools were still limited back then, that's how long ago that was. Later, Manga Studio 5 turned into Clip Studio Paint, and when I tried the software that I'd loved for inking, all these excellent features for coloring had been added. The layer system also became really amazing, and I discovered so many other different tools inside the program. It had become a very powerful illustration software. Apart from the great inking tools, it now also had great brushes and excellent blending tools. It's now one of the drawing software that I often use. Q - Are there any features that you like in particular? My favorite tool is the Lasso fill tool, which I haven't found in other programs yet. It's nice to use because without pressing any buttons, you just circle an area, and it's filled with color immediately. It's a small tool, but it's quite important. I also like the comic making tools. There is a lot to discover in this software; it feels very versatile for creating different types of art. There are ruler tools, and you can use 3D models as references when drawing poses. These kinds of features are very innovative, and I like that about Clip Studio Paint. Q - Your character illustrations are very different from each other but still have your distinct style. Do you have tips on finding your style? My influences were European comic books and Disney movies. I've been drawn to a simplified, more cartoony style since childhood. Growing up, I kept this approach while refining and improving it. I learned to get better in terms of anatomy and how to portray expressions, but the simplicity is really beautiful. Style is what comes naturally to you if you don't think about it too much. Don't overthink what you are doing and just do it. It becomes an extension of your imagination, which then becomes part of your style if you do it consistently enough.
