We found our choice for the best hardware innovation at MAX tucked away in a small booth in the corner of the hall. That's the new Loupedeck CT. With the prominent wheel at its center, it looks like a sophisticated, but fairly traditional control surface for video and sound, but it is far more talented. It also plays into the hands of graphics users by offering ultra-fine control over sliders and other controls that require tuning normally too coarse for a mouse. It is fully programmable, but comes out of the box ready to work with a variety of software. The killer feature is the bank of graphic buttons at the center that will match the iconography of the tools they are representing. Another row of circular buttons below it can take the place of commonly used keyboard functions. It's sturdy and heavily weighted, feeling like something you'd find beside a professional console rather than desktop or laptop computer. All great conferences must eventually come to an end, but we found that there's something different about MAX, even in that respect. In spite of the fact that it had been a very full. very busy, and thoroughly tiring three days, you take home far more than the bagful of brochures and a modicum of show swag. It is nearly impossible to leave without loads of inspiration and ideas, new features you're dying to try out, and new approaches to old tasks. Adobe makes sure there's enough to keep you going strong for at least another year. We'll see you at MAX 2020!
