The exhibit hall floor offers lots of opportunities to look, listen and learn. Of course there are rows of vendors promoting their products, but you'll always find the longest lines in front of exhibits that let attendees create things, sometimes taking advantage of cutting edge tools, sometimes something just as simple as getting to silk screen your own tee-shirt. Of course there were a slew of products on display. Though much of the software being demonstrated appeared to be running on Macs, computer hardware and accessories, for the most par t, favored PCs. Both Dell and Samsung showed of f displays worthy of consideration, however. Going Wide Dell's Thunderbolt 3 UltraSharp 27 4K PremierColor Monitor (UP2720Q) can display 100% of Adobe's RGB color space and 98% of the up-and-coming DCI-P3 standard for digital film and video. For calibration, a small, built-in arm swings up to do the job. Going on sale in mid-January with a $1,999 price tag (including stand!) it should be just in time for the new Mac Pro. Both Samsung and Dell had new entries for super-sharp, super-wide displays at the show, with the Samsung CRG90 at a desk-smothering 49-inches, 32:9 aspect ratio, QLED technology. Though they may lack the Hollywood-precision of single fl at panels, these wide screens save the aggravation of having to match two separate displays if you need the screen space for graphic and video apps.
