iOS 13.2.2 Released with Fixes for Mail, Cellular, Multitasking Bugs and More By Mike Peterson Apple has released new point updates to iOS 13 and iPadOS, both of which fix some significant bugs discovered in the company's latest software. While the updates, iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2, don't contain any significant user- facing features, they do address a number of known issues that have been plaguing users over the past couple weeks. The updates fix a problem that could cause apps running in the background to quit unexpectedly. This is, of course, the RAM management issue that we've previously covered. Basically, the issue ruined multitasking for most users. In some extreme cases, an app would lose its progress or current state almost immediately after a user exited out of it and switched to another app. While the bug was also resolved in the first iOS 13.3 beta, it seems that it was significant enough to warrant a point release sooner than that. Apple has also squashed two separate bugs that have to do with cellular service and cellular data. For the call bug, Apple says that it resolved a problem that caused cellular service to become unavailable after a call. (It isn't clear if this is related to reports of dropped calls in iOS 13. Although that may be tied to a carrier-based issue rather than an Apple one and may have already been resolved.) Some of the other bugs that iOS 13.2.2 addresses mostly deal with login and security features. Most specifically, Apple fixed a bug that caused issues with S/ MIME encrypted email messages for Exchange account s and another problem that interrupted charging on YubiKey accessories. Finally, a bug with Kerberos sign-on services in Safari has been dealt with. It's worth noting that iPadOS 13.2.2's release notes list pretty much all of the same resolved bugs, with the exception of the two cellular-related issues. It doesn't appear to fix anything iPad-specific. This week, Apple also seeded the firs t beta version of iOS 13. 3. That upcoming soft ware update will bring a new Communication Limit s feature for Screen Time and a toggle for disabling Animoji and Memoji s tickers in the emoji keyboard. iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 can both be downloaded as a free over-the-air update by going to Settings General Software Update.
