The P3 Series 2 > Keeping it Simple, Beautiful, & Compact By Thomas Bender Bowers & Wilkins had a hit on their hands with their original P3 on-ear headphones, and they are back this year with the P3 Series 2 that improve on the originals in some subtle ways, maintaining all the positive aspects of their predecessor.  High end materials combined with the high quality audio design you’d expect from Bowers & Wilkins make these some of the best wired, mid-range, portable headphones available today. The on-ear pads of the P3 Series 2, along with the underside of the headband, are made from sheepskin leather, guaranteeing that all parts in contact with your skin will be soft and comfortable.  The top of the headband is a premium-feeling rubberized material, and the metal accents on the arms give this pair of cans a stylish and distinguished look, without going overboard like so many of today’s headphones. The ear pads attach via strong magnets, and hide one of the P3’s newest features, interchangeable cables.  Each set comes with a cable that features in-line controls, as well as a straight cable with no bells and whistles. Either cable splits to go directly to each cup, as opposed to a lot of designs we see today that connect on one side, and run through the headband to reach the other headphone.  The in-line controls work best with an i-device, but Android users will still get some basic functions like play/pause, and volume adjust. The P3 Series 2 are great for commuters, travelers, and jetsetters.  They are lightweight, and have a foldable design that fits perfectly into the hard plastic carrying case that comes with each pair (the protection of this case is superior to any soft carrying case you might find with other headphones).  The case can easily be tossed in a day bag along with your laptop and other accessories, without fear of damaging them. The comfortable materials and lightweight design mean that the P3s can be worn for long durations without any fatigue, and with the high quality sound from the 32mm drivers, you won’t want to take these things off.  The frequency response is actually the same as the higher-end P7s from Bowers & Wilkins, though the P3’s over-ear design let in a bit more ambient noise. For anyone looking to get a great audio experience on the go, without carting around full-sized headphones, the P3 Series 2 from Bowers & Wilkins would make a great gift under the tree.
