BOOK REVIEWS STEVE JOBS REVIEW BY RIC GETTER • PHOTO CREDIT : ALBERT WATSON is Walter Isaacson's fourth biography. His previous works included accounts of the lives of Ben Franklin and Albert Einstein. The author adamantly denies there is a pattern. In fact, he turned down Jobs's first request to be his biographer because he felt it was too soon; the subject was still at the peak of his career. Five years later he received a call from Jobs's wife saying, "…you'd better do it now." Jobs insisted that the book be absolutely unbiased, and include perspectives from as many sources as possible. For once, Jobs would relinquish all control (though he did insist on one change: the book's cover photo). The resulting book is a candid and sometimes unsettling biography of one of history's most successful CEOs. MacDirectory 37 S t e v e J o b s
