82 MacDirectory Markin Abras: What sparked your interested in visual effects? It's present across many of your work. Franz Steiner/Steiner Creative: I graduated in visual effects at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin because I was inspired to create dynamic motion pictures. Some of my early memories watching 90's blockbusters like JURASSIC PARK and INDEPENDENCE DAY made a real impact on me. The visual realism instantly drew me in and I wanted to learn everything there was to know about title design, motion graphics, and the entire process of production design. I was fortunate to have parents that recognized my interests in art early on and that supported my interests. MA: How is Apple technology used in your creative work/process? FS: Both my parents used Mac computers in their offices so it's what we had at home, too. My father also works in the arts (retired creative director in advertising), and in his time, print was still very dominant and his preferences for the Mac platform was dominant also.
