visibility through layers of goggles and plastic.
Scuba gear and a hard case can make it a
lot easier on the photographer, but then
you are still left with the model's challenges
(positioning hair, body, clothing, and relaxing
the face for a natural look.)
Constant motion makes each second
underwater unique, demanding enormous
dedication and stamina from everyone
involved. Selecting a model who is a strong
swimmer with a dance background and
shooting at f-8 or higher will help eliminate
many technical struggles.
MA: How is Apple technology used to help
you conceptualize your creative process and
ideas?
CM: I use a Macbook Pro with a retina display
as well as Aperture and Photoshop as a part
of my workflow. The retina display provides
unmatched clarity that I absolutely love, and
Aperture provides an interface that helps
speed up raw processing.
MA: For those who are looking to get into
photography, what advice would you give?
CM: My advice to someone exploring
photography for the first time is to take photos
constantly. Experience is the best teacher.
Be curious! Get out of the house and explore
neighborhoods you've never visited and give
yourself the opportunity to stumble across
subjects and locations that you didn't know
existed.
Look at a subject from every angle you can
imagine, you never know what's going to
look fantastic. Get excited about your work!
Collect images from other photographers
that challenge you creatively and find ways to
incorporate elements from those images into
your work. From those seeds of inspiration will
come new images and artwork that are all your
