Dollar Photo Club. A name now synonymous in the in- dustry, no mean feat for a company less than a year old, it has revolutionized the stock market indus- try and looks set forth to continue to do so. It's fair to say it has left the in- dustry reeling. The concept is simple, as is the pricing – all images are just $1 (users sign up to ei- ther a $10 monthly, or $99 yearly membership) and that was the in- tention says Tscheltzoff. The stock image market had become awash with complex pricing models and licensing small print, which for many was confusing and off-putting. Many would rather have run the risk of using an image downloaded from Google than step into unknown ter- ritory laden with loopholes. A rarity also is the fact that unused downloads don't expire so you get what you paid for, unlike with many other image agencies. It was a decision that paid off. Dollar Photo Club has within eight months managed to gain an impressive 70,000 members and the feedback, as can be seen on their Facebook and Twitter pages highlight how popular the service is. With budgets being cut, even for world-renowned agencies that rely on images, Art and Creative Directors are continuously on the look out for ways to save money and that's where Dollar Photo Club has conveniently slot in. Tscheltzoff had realized that there was a whole other community that was not being catered for; a commu- nity comprised of creative and design individuals, freelancers and small-medium sized companies who although lacking budget, still required a high caliber selection of images. He understood the need for a straightforward pricing model, one that didn't pressurize its clients into purchasing subscription and credits they may not utilize fully. It was this capacity of noticing the void in the market- place combined with the tenacity to seize the opportunity and act on it that really cements Tscheltzoff as a predominant leading figure in a dynamic and competitive marketplace. He is testament to what can be achieved when boundaries are pushed, even when they're your own. Based on the success of Fotolia and the experience and knowledge that's been gained from the 10 years in business, Dollar Photo Club looks set forth to cause an even bigger footprint on the industry yet again transforming the way in which one accesses images. 5 It's f T T 5 MacDirectory 5
