42 MacDirectory CLOSER LOOIK MYGEARSTORE Looking for accessories for your iPod or iPhone? How about some great toys or games? MyGearStore.com, based in beautiful California, is the place to go. MacDirectory recently spoke with John Lockmeyer of MyGearStore. John is in charge of marketing and promotions. MacDirectory > John, tell me about MyGearStore. John Lockmeyer > If you go to our Web site, MyGearStore.com, you will notice that we do things a little different than other stores. You will see standard iPhone and iPod products but a lot of the products we sell are the high-end, higher quality items. The ones people talk about. We are looking for quality versus quantity and volume. What we have tried to do with our products is not only to have them online but also put them in front of celebrities. We want to have quality products and we want them in front of people that are looked up to and respected. We push quality products and provide people with great prices. If you go to our main Web site you will see that we have actually done this. You will see comments from a lot of the celebrities who have tried out the products that are represented by us. We have been in business about seven years now and will be opening a retail store in the next few weeks. Right now we are an online store. We are taking this one step at a time. MD > Is the economy affecting your operation? JL > I think we are responding to the economic situation by changing our methods, using different portals such as YouTube. Twitter and YouTube have been very helpful to us in our marketing effort. I think we are up to over a thousand followers on Twitter right now. I believe that MyGearStore has quality products and quality service. We have great customer service. You will have to experience it to understand. We maintain the Apple brand and our customers are most happy. MD > If I call, that is if I need to call and go to your Web site, will I be able to find a phone number to call and when I call will I get a human to answer the phone? Will that person have the answers to my problem? JL > Yes! We even have a Twitter profile for people that may have customer service issues. We want our customers to receive prompt assistance with any problem they may have. This is a major goal for us, to provide quality products and quality service. Ninety-nine percent of our orders are shipped the next business day from receipt. Although most orders are shipped next day, any delay in processing payment can cause a delay in shipping. We ship using the U.S. Postal Service and/or UPS. The customer may specify the method of shipping desired if they are in a hurry to receive their order. Some of our top selling items are iPhone stands, iPhone cases, iPod skins, iPod cases, webcams, USB car chargers and even alarm clocks. We carry such major brands such as Belkin, Griffin and more. I would refer your readers to our Web site at mygearstore.com for complete listings of all products. Too many to itemize here. Regarding our new retail store, it will be located at 11081 Winners Circle, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. It should be open by the time your article is published. Find MyGearStore at and by calling 800-290-2492. You can follow them on Twitter for daily deals. WORDS BY E.L. GRIGGS
