Typefaces One of the most important aspects of typography is the selection of typefaces. A typeface is a family of fonts that share the same design characteristics, such as serif or sans-serif. Serif typefaces have small lines or flourishes at the end of strokes, while sans-serif typefaces do not. Sans-serif typefaces are considered more modern and are often used in digital media such as websites and mobile apps. Some of the most commonly used sans-serif typefaces include Arial, Helvetica, Proxima Nova, Futura, and Calibri. Serif typefaces on the other hand are considered more traditional and are often used in printed materials such as books and newspapers. Commonly used serif typefaces include Times New Roman, Garamond, Baskerville, Georgia, and Courier New. Image by Jon Tyson, Unsplash
