particularly interesting. Compatibility. One of the major reasons to use Creative Cloud is for compatibility between apps. Yet this has never been perfect. The reason is that each of these apps has its own complex development history and none of them were originally designed to work together. However, a major milestone was reached this year: It is now possible to cut and paste anything between InDesign and Illustrator. It has taken an extremely long time, especially considering that InDesign was designed by Adobe from scratch. 23 years. That tells you something important about software design: how hard it is to achieve interchangeability and inter-operability. Warmest congratuations to Adobe on this long-awaited milestone. I have one life-saving tip for working with InDesign that comes from the old school document processors--and it's as true today as it was back in the 1980s: Don't let documents get long! Break them up! Don't let them get longer than 50 pages, and if they are very complex, break them up into smaller segments. Yes, you will have to keep track of pagination. But your reward will be bug-free files and a workflow that really works. Finally, although it isn't headline-making, it's so important: Adobe has made a good transition to Apple Silicon. That's a task that is simple to state but overwhelmingly difficult to accomplish. Adobe's execution has been stunning.
