Staring Down the Blank Page A new header bar provides access to the Import, Edit, and Export tabs, and their workflow-enhancing interface layouts. The Import tab replaces that intimidating blank page that is the gateway to all our projects. Premiere Pro has made getting past that significantly easer. Just insert your memory media and all your content appears before you, letting you scrub through each clip, name it, and place it in tray that lets you pre-order the scene. Click a button and the clips are imported and placed in that order in a Premiere timeline. You can still use the Project panel to order the clips, if you prefer that method. The Export panel will provide the usual wide variety of export presets, controls for customizing and creating your own in a far less cramped space. It now includes links to major social media platforms for direct upload. AI on their side to help with the task thanks to Auto Color. Even if you know your way around the color correction block, the new feature will speed things up by getting each shot close to what you need, even if it’s D-Log or has had LUTs pre-applied. This is familiar territory for Adobe. A very similar feature has been part of Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw for some years now and has seen some eye-popping improvements in its most recent incarnations (and is no longer snickered at by pro photographers). In Premiere, it will not only examine the frame under the playhead, it will take the entire clip into account. Even if you’re waiting for your new Mac Studio to arrive (or your checkbook balance grow back enough to order one), Adobe’s April NAB announcements have a lot to celebrate. Frame.io will certainly be a major game-changer for most shops and just about every editor and effects designer will find themselves working smarter, faster and producing a better product.
