MacPaw macpaw.com MacPaw Software Starting out in Ukraine a dozen years ago, with about $3,000 in capital and three people, MacPaw’s flagship product, Clean My Mac has been keeping the Macs of millions of users worldwide clear of cruft. Being the inclusive company that it is, it did the same for Windows. It now offers a variety of similar utilities to keep computers running smoothly, providing security, beautifying Desktops, a Swiss Army knife for expanding compressed files, The Unarchiver, a free utility from a company it acquired, Setapp, a desktop timesaver that does so much it’s actually hard to explain, and frankly, they have some of the coolest company videos you’ll find on YouTube. With its headquarters in Ukraine’s capitol, Kyiv, the impact of Russia’s invasion was immediate, as we hear from Oleksandr Kosovan. Oleksandr Kosovan, CEO & Founder at MacPaw The situation here is changing by the hour as well as the emotions that people experience every day. The first day, it was a mix of fear and rage for what happened. We couldn’t believe that Russia was actually invading our country. At the same time, we only hoped that we could withstand the aggression against the 2nd most powerful army in the world, but there was zero certainty that we could win this war. Thanks to an early warning by Joe Biden, we had enough time to think about how we could prepare for the possible war. We did what we could — we ensured the sustainability of business and safety for family members and employees, who agreed to move to a safer location and did preparations for the worst-case scenario. But till the last hour, we couldn’t even imagine what terror would unleash and how it would look in real life. For the first few days, we couldn’t sleep, we couldn’t eat, we followed the news, and many were trying to evacuate from possible hot zones. On the fourth day, we saw that the king was naked. The Russian army and the whole of Russia are full of lies, corruption, and disorganization. The Ukrainian nation was united to withstand the Russian aggression, and everybody started to do what they could to help Ukraine win this war. Every business owner that I know is doing something for our common victory. On day eleven, we already saw that Russia failed to execute even a single goal to capture major cities in Ukraine. But unfortunately, they started terror against the civilians and the cities. They want to completely wipe out Ukraine as a country, sending more and more young deceived soldiers, like cannon fodder. Our Ukrainian Armed Forces showed that they can really fight and stand against the most terrifying army in the world. On day twelve, Russia started to bombard our cities and infrastructure with dumb bombs, and unfortunately, they have massive air superiority. We do what we can to reduce the damage, but unfortunately, we don’t have enough technologies to protect the sky. NATO countries are too scared to be part of this conflict not to start World War III. We can understand this. But we don’t lose hope. For the last few days, there have been rumors that China is willing to help Russia in the war against Ukraine. This bothers us most now, as we have confidence that we can win the war against Russia, but Russia and China now? Oleksandr and MacPaw have launched a foundation where people worldwide can help out those struggling in Ukraine, humanitarian-aid.macpaw.com. The linked page both a secure form and bank transfer information for all who want to assist.
