Though happening in occasionally uncomfortable fits and starts, life is showing signs of getting back to something like normal. WaterField Designs, San Francisco’s bag-maker extraordinaire has been cranking out great new products over the past 18 months that we’re finally able to get out and use. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorites. Meet the Mezzo The Mezzo is the latest mid-size backpack for day-tripping geeks on the go. It’s compact enough to be comfortable to carry around town, but there’s just enough space to hold everything you may need. On the front is a big pouch pocket with a very secure paragliding buckle (parachute not included) for everything you may want to access quickly, along with the deep side pockets for water bottles, umbrellas, and the like. A very comfortable carry-handle on top helps out for those short hops between meeting rooms. The padded, wicking, webbed panel helps keep your back cool and comfortable and slips over the handle of your rolling carry-on for convenience. Inside, it’s lined with WaterField’s signature gold nylon lining that’s smooth, strong and makes everything easy to see. Two plush-lined padded pockets will hold a full-size laptop and large tablet (non-nerds never understand why we need both). The main compartment has enough space for an assortment of work-stuff and a modest lunch. For chargers, cables, and such, we’d recommend adding one of WaterField’s Gear Pouches, a great accessory that goes well with a variety of their products. The Mezzo comes in either 1050 Denier black ballistic nylon or their classic waxed canvas, the former never shows its age and the latter does so beautifully.
