And man, are there a lot of accessories here. The Hydrology NX is a complex piece of kit, and that becomes fairly obvious while unboxing. Cleaning tools, dab tools, carb caps, charging equipment, extra silicone rings—it’s all here. Get comfortable with all these pieces, since the Hydrology NX can also be fully disassembled for cleaning. It sounds like a lot, but it’s actually kind of fun to interact with your vaporizer in this way. When you disassemble the vaporizer, you’ll see how solidly built it is. Everything fits together like a glove, and the materials feel top notch. Cloudious9 also uses magnetized connections in several places where it makes sense, including the mouthpiece and charger, which adds to the thoughtful design. The body of the vaporizer and the two ovens is anodized aluminum. Indeed, the atomizer feels almost like a solid block of metal with a lot of good heft to it. The body of the vaporizer itself is borosilicate glass for added sturdiness. For further protection from both falls and excessive heat, the Hydrology9 NX comes with a removable silicone mold that wraps around the base of the vaporizer. It makes the unit easy to hold over long sessions, provides a wide base for stability, and inherently adds some light protection. The unit is fully functional with the silicone mold equipped. A single power button turns the Hydrology9 NX on, at which point it starts heating to your selected temperature setting. Like a lot of vaporizers, the NX uses color coded temperature settings along with a satisfying rotation of the base of the unit that acts like a giant temperature selector. The Extract Atomizer ranges from 550° to 770°, or if the NX detects the Loose Leaf Heating Chamber, the temperature range is adjusted to 350° to 455°. When fully heated (this happens fast!), green lights will illuminate the vapor chamber, letting you know that it is ready for use. An auto-off feature will kick in for safety reasons, but you can extend any session by holding down the power button. The oven is heated by a titanium plate that gets incredibly hot to hit your desired temperature, but thanks to the water filtration, the vapor comes out nice and cool. The water chamber on the Hydrology9 NX is easily accessible, and once the water is in there and the cap is screwed back on, it doesn’t leak at all. It’s fully portable even with water inside. It’s a pretty impressive feat to maintain this water filtration air path without any leaks. Both concentrate and flower will benefit from the (optional) water filtration, and regardless of which you are using, Cloudious9 has included everything you need for a successful session. The Extract Atomizer has both ceramic and quartz buckets, which can be cold loaded or loaded while in the oven. And both options come with an array of cleaning tools and a dab tool or packing tool, as well as extra silicone rings. In general, the Hydrology9 NX is surprisingly mobile! To pack in this versatile functionality and plethora of features, you’d expect it to be a little larger, but the Hydrology9 NX is easily held with one hand—still fun to pass around, but it’s not a two foot glass apparatus that will never leave your living room. You can also be fairly confident that it will last a day out and about. The 1900 mAh battery is rechargeable and replaceable should the need arise. It charges via a proprietary magnetic attachment that receives power via a USB-C connector (all included). The charger has a space for your dab tool, so you can leave it attached to the vaporizer or leave it with the wall charger. While I don’t love proprietary chargers, I do like the magnetic implementation here! If it is not already obvious, there is a ton to like about the Hydrology9 NX from Cloudious9. This truly feels like a full step evolution of the original, and the perfect piece of kit for any aficionado. While the banner feature is certainly its interchangeable atomizers, it stands on its own as a dedicated device for extract or flower—don’t think it’s not worth it if you only use one or the other. If you are ready to upgrade your vaporizing experience, there isn’t a better way than with the Hydrology9 NX.
