One of Fresco’s unique UI features is the Touch Shortcut, a little element that lets you use your non-drawing hand to access additional features for the tool you’re drawing with. That one little spot does a while lot, so now there’s a more comprehensive tutorial available from the Help menu to assist you in the basics along with the shortcut map that provides a guide to what it does for each tool. Sound Improvements April and May saw a couple of bursts of updates to Premiere Pro. Lumetri color gained live previews. Just mouse over a preset and the settings will be momentarily applied to the clip. Gradients can be applied directly to text with a new tool in Essential Graphics. There were also some improvements for those of us who do a lot of captioning. First, the caption track now accepts color labels. And video files with embedded captions can be cut and trimmed more intuitively while everything will stay in sync on the timeline. In audio, loudness is almost as hard to get right as it is to fully understand. However, in terms of your end product, it remains one of the most critical elements of an audio mix. Premiere added an ITU-based Loudness Meter (in the Effects Rack) that provides fine-grained monitoring for those who know what they’re looking at and includes convenient presets for services like Netflix and YouTube if you don’t.
