What has been your favorite project to be a part of? Why? I provided illustrations for a 150-page publication for the University of British Columbia and the Canadian Government. The purpose of this publication is to help identify and treat Bangladeshi children with clubfoot, a debilitating condition that if untreated, leads to a life of disability. In addition to contributing illustrations, I also designed the layout, created supplemental charts and visual-aids, and provided consultation for the project. It's by far the longest and most labor-intensive project I have ever worked on spanning several years. It felt good to be a part of this project because I believe in the power of helping others. What does a typical day look like for you? Though I didn’t used to be so organized, I start each day by consulting my calendar. I have everything neatly arranged so that I can keep track of what I need to do. For more complex projects, I have been using MindManager software to organize my thoughts. A typical work day consists of mostly recording and editing videos, creating art, promoting my brand and managing my business. How does Painter help you in the development and creation of your artwork? When an artist can work comfortably, they can devote nearly all of their focus toward perfecting their art and expressing their vision in the most effective way possible. That's why it's important to find the tools that work best for you. What sets Painter apart from other art software is that it provides the tools I expect and results I want: Blenders that blend paint, thick paint that breaks on the canvas and custom brushes that can do nearly anything. And I want it all in an interface that doesn't inhibit my creativity by being overly simplified or unnecessarily complicated. What’s your favorite Painter tool/feature? Why? I’m a huge fan of Painter’s Thick Paint. The way it builds up, scrapes away and breaks on the canvas make it feel like you are really painting with colored goop rather than pushing around pixels. The recent enhancements to Thick Paint have really opened the doors to a lot of new ways to use the medium. I love that digital art gives you the freedom to create your own techniques with new tools.
