patterns in mobile apps like Lightroom and Aero.” Even though an interface feature may debut on a specific app for a specific device, it should maintain the same look and feel as it propagates to others. With the basics, like layers, there needs to be a commonality that requires a lot of coordination within Adobe. A lot of that responsibility falls on the shoulders of Elissa Welsh, who led the design for Fresco on the iPhone. She migrated into the experience design field from a background in doing video production and teaching piano, but her chief focus in college had been interaction design. Through that, she found a home and significant success at Adobe. She explained her role in the project this way, “Throughout the design process, we collaborated closely with research, prototyping and other designers. Within Adobe Design, there is an entire group of designers dedicated to enhancing the experiences of our existing apps, focused on the phone. We learned from, iterated upon and further developed Fresco with the help of established patterns and tried and true designs that exist today.”
