For the attendees, they were also able to reduce the cost of attending MAX from up to $1,900 for a full-price package, to free for everyone, everywhere. To accommodate its many international attendees, it ran sessions for 52 straight hours so it would be accessible in all time zones and a wide variety of world languages, another several fringe benefit of pre-recording the sessions. The main sessions were the high-value showpieces, including Conan O’Brian as a guest host for the keynote and Chelsea Handler co-hosting the MAX Sneaks session. Adobe took advantage of BlueJeans’ high-quality videoconferencing the training sessions, with the instructors or other experts standing by to take live questions from the attendees. As recordings, the sessions are still available for viewing along with the support materials for the lab exercises. Rather than the usual 60 to 90 minutes, Adobe chose to keep the sessions to 30 minutes each, with longer sessions split into three parts. Virtual Teleporting With the labs, it was much easier to watch and furiously take notes and then go back post-MAX to follow along with the exercise, pausing the playback when needed or even to follow a sudden inspiration and do some experimenting. The online scheduling system was sophisticated, yet very easy to master. (It did get overwhelmed a bit on the first afternoon, but quickly recovered.) Having the sessions online also made it physically and logistically easier to pack your schedule. At the Los Angeles Convention Center, MAX’s usual venue, it could be over a half-mile walk between rooms. Online, you’re there in a couple of clicks. If a session turned out to be something other than what you were expecting, a few more clicks would move you to another. Until the Convention
