Weighted Bamboo Blanket by Cariloha If you've been on the internet in the last two years, you may have read about weighted blankets. These things are perennial favorites on gift lists and "Top Ten Things You Didn't Know You Need, But You Actually Need Now" lists, and for good reason. So, when you're ready for this necessary luxury, you better go with a brand like Cariloha for maximum comfort. Cariloha does wonders with bamboo products and their Weighted Bamboo Blanket is no exception. The Weighted Bamboo Blanket is, in fact, napping perfection. It's often described as a hug in blanket form, and while that's a cheap and easy analogy, it's pretty damn accurate. This blanket is actually something you have to experience to understand (thus, you didn't know you needed it), so the hug reference is about as good as you can get. When you first get your Weighted Bamboo Blanket, it feels obscenely heavy. Are you sure this is only 15 pounds? you'll ask yourself. Alas, this is what 15 pounds of blanket feels like. When spread out over your body, however, it applies just the right amount of pressure to provide a calm and secure sleeping environment. What actually provides all that weight is small glass beads packed within the blanket itself. Those beads are of course stitched into internal pockets to help the blanket keep its shape, otherwise, you'd have a saggy, heavy bean bag. And since this is Cariloha, the blanket is 100% bamboo viscose and incredibly soft. Bamboo isn't a soft word, but Cariloha makes it a super soft material (trust me, I've been sleeping in their sheets). Since a 15-pound blanket would probably kill your washing machine, the Weighted Bamboo Blanket also ships with a machine washable cover made of bamboo viscose blended with cotton and polyester. 12 ties inside the duvet attached to 12 loops on the blanket itself to keep things in place—even then, it can be challenging to maneuver this guy, but really, there's not a lot of movement that's needed. That's kind of the point –anxious sleepers or sleepers who toss and turn will find the added weight particularly comforting. It's summer, you're saying, why do I want 15 pounds of blanket on top of me? I get it. It sounds overwhelming. But this is another point of the glass beads—they keep the Weighted Bamboo Blanket cool and breathable. It's still a blanket, but it's not like you're sleeping under five 3-pound blankets. And while you shouldn't put this in a child's bed, the blanket isn't at all suffocating or oppressive. Cariloha's Weighted Bamboo Blanket comes in one size, 60" by 80". It's plenty of blanket for one, and enough blanket for two, especially if those two people like each other. It essentially covers the top of a queen-size bed, without any extra to go over the sides. So, while blankets may not be the manliest textile around, this is a great gift that anyone would love. They don't know they need it, but they need it now. Whether Dad is a consummate napper or just complains about a bad night's rest, the Weighted Bamboo Blanket from Cariloha will envelop him in the comfort and security that he's not allowed to admit he wants.
