something that you didn't love as much as you thought you did. Brace yourself for the hard work to come, continue to learn, and take advantage of online resources. Keep learning how to write, draw, tell a story, and be consistent. Get feedback from credible sources, stay humble, organized, and then I think you'll be fine. Q: What do you expect from the development of the comic market? I expect that especially Japanese comics will take a cue from the kind of revolution we are trying to bring about at Saturday AM in terms of diversity. I would think this is true for comics on all fronts regarding ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, the list goes on. Looking at western content , Holly wood movies are slowly bringing about change, and I hope Japanese comic s will also embrace diversity, rather than s ticking with the norm. It helps the business as well, as you can cast your net to a wider audience, provided that you have done your proper research as not to misrepresent any communities. Q: There are several different comic styles out there, and webtoons have become quite popular. Do you see yourself doing Webtoon-style comics ever? Right now, I don't know, even though I can appreciate that type of storytelling, and I am sure there are series that are very successful in that format. Maybe at Saturday AM we might do something in that realm, but currently, I'm much more in love with the format that also lends itself to creating a physical copy, if necessary. Q: As a creator and an entrepreneur, what are your next goals in the foreseeable future? My goals are always the same - to continue to help build Saturday AM, Saturday PM and our other magazines into brands that can one day be as big as the biggest manga comic publishers. I think we can do this because by adding more diversity into our content we can continue to excite future creators who want to make comics where they can see themselves represented. Now, that we have a new mobile app called Saturday AM - Global Comics, we can reach even more people - whether they have an iOS, Android or Amazon device, or come from countries far away from each other. I want to make Saturday AM's diverse manga into such a normal concept that even Japanese publishers must acknowledge it and evolve. Representation empowers independent creators and that's good for the art form. Q: What is in store for your own series? Bacassi is almost designed to just run forever. (laughs) Apple Black, on the other hand, should go for about thirty more volumes with 7 to 9 chapters in each, excluding potential spin-offs. There is much more to come; more interesting stories, bad guys to beat, more twists to be revealed, and engaging cliffhangers that people will love.
