DANNIC: I think it takes
knowing the overall dance
music scene and what direction
that it is heading in. I've always
made big-room house music,
both the groovier stuff and the
more main-stage, big-room
productions, but I always try to
sound fresh and original whist
having my own individual style
and integrity within my music.
What's your ideal venue
setting?
DANNIC: I prefer smaller
venues, because being closer
to my fans? There is no feeling
like it! The fans are there to
see you and hear your tracks
and that I can feel that support
directly at the smaller shows,
makes it feel like we are a
family, a team.
Do you improvise during
your performances?
DANNIC: Sometimes I have to
create a certain framework –
the first track will have a huge
drop at this point, or my closing
out track will be this remix at
another point – so that we can
coordinate lights, pyrotechnics
and special effects. But I also
think it is very important to
improvise, read the mood of the
crowd and interpret that energy
into a great show. Where is
the fun in having everything
planned?
You are on tour now, what do
you do when you are not on
tour?
DANNIC: I spend time with my
family and my friends, they are
so important to me. I was very
happy recently when I got to
spend Mother's Day at home
with my Mum! I think traveling
so much means that it is
important to stay grounded and
at one with my values that helps
me to stay fulfilled.
Which show from your tour
are you looking forward to
the most? And why.
DANNIC: I'm looking forward
to returning to Tomorrowland! It
is one of my favorite events in
the calendar held in the heart of
Belgium and is the biggest (and
best!) festival in the world. I'm
so glad to be playing again!
Tell me about your new
studio?
DANNIC: It has been a long
time in the making! It's not far
from my main house in Breda
so I have the perfect space to
get away, shut myself off and
get down to business, but
Breda is a small town! So if any
producers or collaborators are
visiting, my resources are easy
to get to. I have some pretty
nice kit; Logic Pro X on my Mac
Pro with Native Instruments
and United Audio plugins. I also
have a huge Dynaudio sub,
Focal sm9's studio monitors
and some other bits – it took
a while to get it exactly how I
wanted it, but I'm pleased with
the results.
What's next for you?
DANNIC: Festival season
is here! I'll be playing at
Elements Festival in Germany,
Summerburst in Sweden,
Tomorrowland, Solar Weekend
and lots more to still be
announced! New music will also
