CLOSER LOOK
JUST MOBILE >TAKES ACCESSORIZING TO ANOTHER LEVEL WITH XTAND GO AND GUM PLUS BATTERY PACK WORDS BY JONE DEVLIN
Just Mobile is well known for making highly innovative iPhone and iPod accessories that match the unique look and style of Apple products. In our spring issue (MD45), MacDirectory reviewed Just Mobile’s award winning Lounge, an edgy, well- designed yet practical iPhone stand that can be used on either a desk or in a car. This issue we thought we’d offer our readers some additional Just Mobile options.
The first Just Mobile product I’d like to discuss here is the Xtand Go. This, like the aforementioned Lounge, is an iPhone (or BlackBerry) stand, and while it can be used on a desk, it is designed specifically for use in a car. What sets the Xtand (so named for its X frame construction) apart from the Lounge is that the Xtand, along with being dashboard mountable, can also be attached to a car windshield or side window. Small, lightweight and attractive, the Xtand, like the Lounge, can be rotated vertically or horizontally, and is specially designed to enable users to access both the iPhone’s side controls and dock connector. Best of all, the Xtand Go can be fixed to a case or cover, which offers your iPhone an additional layer of protection.
Unlike earlier iterations, the newest Xtand Go is made entirely from plastic, and is versatile enough to hold your iPhone or BlackBerry securely while at the same time allowing for a one-handed attach and
detach. I will admit, when I first heard about this feature I was nervous. I mean, if I can attach and detach my phone with just one hand, how securely can it really be held? I needn’t have worried. Just like the Lounge, the Xtand Go is completely secure, and holds all of your mobile devices safely, even at high speeds on bumpy roads.
Xtand Go also boasts the same high quality construction as all of Just Mobile’s products, with a finish and styling that fits in nicely with your MacBook.
And if you’re not an iPhone user, no worries; thanks to Xtand’s glue-free Go button technology, Xtand Go works just as well with smartphones, iPods, and navigation devices.
As for the Gum Plus Battery Pack, according to Just Mobile “this mobile battery packs an impressive 4,400 mAh of power and 1,000 mA of output current that can charge your iPhone up to 4 times
in just an hour.” As an added bonus, the Gum Plus also comes with USB and iPhone (or iPod) cables, and a carrying case.
As someone who is constantly on their phone (and I do mean constantly) the ability to have a rechargeable backup battery is great. The Gum Plus, like all Just Mobile products, is lightweight, easy to use and store, and consistently reliable. It also offers users the ability to charge their phones and iPods much more often than similar batteries on the market. Personally, I
found the Gum Plus to be a godsend on long road trips, enabling me to have continued access to my phone throughout the entire drive.
The size of the Gum Plus is also a positive, as it is very easy to slip into a purse or pocket. The fact that it’s lightweight, meanwhile, means you can take it with you anywhere without worrying about how much weight it’s going to add to your purse or backpack. And, as with the Xtand, the Gum Plus is styled so that it is obviously part of the Apple universe, with a nice, highly polished solid aluminum finish.
Available wherever Apple accessories are sold, the Xtand Go sells for approximately $39.95, while the Gum Plus Battery pack can be purchased for $69.95. So if you’re into attractive, professional, high functioning accessories for your iPhone and iPod, check out Just Mobile’s Xtand Go and Gum Plus Battery Pack.
