wasn’t touted, until we asked. The Filmmaker Mode is the one added feature we asked about in nearly every booth and should be something that sets one firms screens apart from the others. The funny thing was we had to show the feature to several of the folks in the booths and all they could say was, “Wow!” The settings disable things like motion smoothing so what your watching is closer to what you’d experience in a theater. It should be a differentiating feature, but we found we had to ask and got a blank stare in return. We’ve learned over the years that we need a solid dose of reality checks before we get concerned or enthused about the newest/best wave of video content technology. We were pleasantly surprised to see a portion of the Sony booth at CES show devoted to the promotion of their crystal LED modular direct view displays for virtual production. Yes, we know, virtual production isn’t exactly new, but it amazes us as to how quickly virtual production has become the new standard for the M&E industry and it’s great to see companies thrust it into mainstream events. We’re pleasantly surprised at how quickly virtual production grew.
