MacDirectory 63 GAMES the ammunition and medical kits available to players. Also, anyone in your squad can revive you from near death, and medics can revive anyone from near death, regardless of their squad. What at first sounds annoying immediately leads to a reliance on teamwork and squad play that developers have been trying to achieve organically for years. Spotting has also taken a back seat in Battlefield V. Enemies are ever- so-briefly highlighted when shot or suppressed, and the Recon class has a spotting tool, but in general, there is less shooting at red icons and more searching the landscape for enemy movement. It also seems that maps are a bit more concentrated. While still massive in scale, there is more condensed action, resulting in less running upon respawn. There is also a noticeable increase in the pace of the action, the shooting, and the gameplay in general. It is still much more tactical than its major competitors, but Battlefield V leans a little bit more into twitchy gunplay than previous iterations. Objectives and control points almost always feel hotly contested in Battlefield V. I still don't know how DICE does it, but many of the games end with only the slimmest of margins (routinely less than 20 points difference in a 600-point game). It all results in the tense, squad-based action that the Battlefield series is known for. The pedigree of Battlefield 1, DICE's promise to continue the flow of new content, and my experience thus far have me very hopeful for the future of Battlefield V. It achieves squad based gameplay with total strangers, and doesn't sacrifice any of the top tier gunplay or story telling that have the Battlefield franchise riding high on success. It's a surefire hit this holiday season and beyond! For more information, visit: www.BattlefieldV.com
