REVIEW Cloud Storage Solutions > MiMedia By Claudia Paredes If you like to share your memories with friends and family, MiMedia makes this process safe and easy. There are multiple ways to save your files—you can save them on a computer, a hard drive, and these days a lot of people save them on the cloud. Saving on the cloud has a lot of benefits—it makes it easy to share photos and videos from your latest vacation, you can access your files from anywhere in the world, and you can automatically have your files saved to the web directly from your phone or laptop. MiMedia understands that you want to access your files from anywhere. After you create an account you will get 10GB of free storage. This is more than enough space to get you started, but if you require more space the Basic Plan gives you 500 GB for $7.99 per month, and the Plus Plan gives you 1 TB for $9.99 per month. It’s very easy to upload files. Add them directly from your computer or favorite social media outlets, like Facebook and Google Plus. You can also just drag and drop your images into the browser, and they will be available to you from anywhere in the world! I dropped about 1000 images and they were uploaded in about an hour! If you want to automatically have new files added from your computer, simply download the MiMedia desktop app and let the app do the work for you. This is a great option for people on-the-go who need their files accessible at all times. Once uploaded, all your photos and videos are organized for you; you can sort by the date it was taken or the date it was added. And your music is organized under albums too. It’s very easy to quickly find what you are looking for. If you want to organize them yourself, you can also group your photos into albums, these are called MiCollections. Make a new album for every vacation or special occasion. One of my favorite features that is offered is MiDrives. This tool allows you to organize and share albums privately with friends and family. They can even comment on the album too! Add as many people as you want to each album. And to promote more engagement, MiDrive is now customizable—change the color and font of the title card, and use the geotagged map to turn your images into a digital story! To make it easy to edit photos, MiMedia has added new digital photo editing tools from Adobe Creative Cloud. Now MiMedia offers Adobe’s full suite of photo editing tools. One of the main reasons why we like to save our files—images, videos, music—is because we want to remember them. MiMedia’s new tool called, This Day, allows users to travel back in time and rediscover videos and images from previous years. And finally, because sometimes we tend to use our phones more than our desktops and laptops, MiMedia is also available on mobile. Simply download the app and save all the files on your phone to the cloud. You can also view them, organize them, and share them—all directly from your phone! Over the next six months, MiMedia plans to unveil additional new features, including face and object recognition; contacts and SMS store and restore; password protect to lock an entire media collection or individual files for greater privacy; photo collapsing technology that identifies the best photo taken in a batch of images, for built-in quality control; and a patented photo and video search and rediscovery tool to save users time when sharing media.
